Are you interested in helping us run the surgery by providing your ideas, suggestions & comments?
If so contact Helen Strevens on firstname.lastname@example.org or Sue Hart email@example.com and join your surgery PPG today!
When collecting your items, please check them against what you requested. If you receive medication you did not request please let the surgery know.
Once we receive your request, please allow 48 hours for it to be ready for collection. Please do not request medication more than 14 days before it is due as we are unable to process prescriptions prior to this unless there are exceptional circumstances eg you are going away on holiday (if this is the case please explain the reason for the early request on your slip).
At the bottom of your prescription, you will find a review date. If this date is exceeded by more than 6 months, a prescription may not be issued until an appointment is made with a doctor. If this date is exceeded by 12 months, your repeat prescription will be withdrawn until you have seen a doctor or nurse.
You will need to state which chemist you would like to collect from or whether you would prefer to collect it from us at the surgery. If you would like us to forward it to one of the local chemists, then this may take up to 24 hours longer depending on the chemist. Some local pharmacies offer a delivery service - please contact them direct if you would like more information. We are unable to post your prescription unless you provide a stamped addressed envelope with your request. Unfortunately, we are unable to post prescriptions to any chemist outside of Calne.
We are unable to accept requests for medication over the telephone.
If you request an urgent prescription (giving us less than 48 hours notice), only 7 days of medication will be provided. You will then need to request a further repeat prescription. All such urgent prescriptions must be collected from the surgery after 5pm on the same day - prescriptions will not be faxed or sent to pharmacies.
The practice has its own dispensary which can supply most of our patients needs.
Requests for repeat prescriptions can be hand delivered to the surgery or posted with a stamped addressed envelope if you want us to post it back to you.
Please allow two full working days for prescriptions to be processed and remember to take weekends and bank holidays into account.
Extensive exemption and remission arrangements protect those likely to have difficulty in paying charges (NHS prescription and dental charges, optical and hospital travel costs). The NHS prescription charge is a flat-rate amount which successive Governments have thought it reasonable to charge for those who can afford to pay for their medicines. Prescription prepayment certificates (PPCs) offer real savings for people who need extensive medication.
These charges apply in England only. In Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales prescriptions are free of charge.
If you will have to pay for four or more prescription items in three months, or more than 15 items in 12 months, you may find it cheaper to buy a PPC.
There is further information about prescription exemptions and fees on the NHS website
